2008 Milan Fashion Week: Prada
Miuccia Prada offered a new form of austere sexuality, with lace as the new tool of seduction, in her autumn/winter collection, shown at Milan Fashion Week.
The collection was based almost entirely on lace and it came see-through or layered over flesh-tone, stretch-silk, body-stockings, leotards, bodices and big knickers.
The key color was black, seen as a series of pencil skirts and leggings with variations on the small, high-collared governess shirt and blouse, layered over the body-hugging, flesh-toned underwear.
Black, the color of the vamp, dominated the collection. But in other colors it denoted other moods. In cream it looked demure; in metallic blue it was girly; in beige, it was working wardrobe style; in orange, it was fiery and wanton; in gleaming gold and styled as a cardigan-jacket and slim skirt, it had the bourgeoise power of a married woman, secure in her position in society.
